The Beauty Bakery: Witch Hazel Plus Tea Tree Antioxidant Facial Cream and Clarifying Witch Hazel Facial Mist

Searching for new skin care products could be a challenge for some of us, especially when you have sensitive skin! As I continue to look for good facial products, I came across with BeautyMNL (https://beautymnl.com/), for those who don't know, BeautyMNL sells the best makeups, hair care, skin care, etc. here in the Philippines. In their website, I found this Clarifying Witch Hazel Facial Mist and Witch Hazel Plus Tea Tree Antioxidant Facial Cream from the brand The Beauty Bakery.

Having problematic skin, I tend to easily breakout when a specific product is not compatible with my skin. With that said, I only choose products that are natural and doesn't have much alcohol and fragrance content. When I saw these Witch Hazel and Tea Tree products, I said to myself that I must give them a try. Why? Because plants like Witch Hazel is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, it’s able to battle free radicals to protect against DNA damage. Below I have listed some of the skin benefits that you can get when you use Witch Hazel:

Dermcare: Diamond Power Peel Treatment (From Php 950 down to Php 199 on Metrodeal)

There are a lot of reasons why some of us have dull skin — either our diet is not that good, we don't drink enough water, or basically we don't have any skin care routine. Living in a tropical country like the Philippines also makes our skin looking dull especially if we don't put any sunscreens for protection. Dull skin tone is a result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin.

Good thing is that we can have facial services like Diamond Power Peel Treatment to give our face a radiant, flawless skin that glows with health. This means that a fresh, youthful complexion is unveiled every time the outer layer of dead skin cells is shed, which keeps the complexion young and glowing.

So let me share my experience in this treatment:

Step One: Cleanse, Moisturize, and Steam

They will ask you to wash your face with their own facial cleanser. After that you will lay down on the recliner and your esthetician (mine is Ate Dorothy who is very friendly) will put some moisturizer onto your face. She also put pads on my eyes so that she can start the steaming process to open my pores. This takes for about 10 - 15 minutes. I must say that for the first few seconds, I felt like I want to cough because of the steam, I don't know if its just me though. Hehe.

Step Two: Pricking

Pricking is getting rid of your blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes pimples (but it depends on the pimple that you have if its ripe or not). This process may take from 15 - 30 minutes depending on how much they need to remove.

Step Three: Suction and Laser

Your esthetician will use a small tube to suck out the remaining dirt from your face. After that, she will use a glass wand-like that has laser and just massage it onto your face.

Step Four: Heat Hammer

This heat hammer is used to open up your pores again so it would be ready for the Diamond Peel. The difference between the steamer and this step is that the heat hammer is being massaged also to your face. It's warm and relaxing.

Step Five: Diamond Peel Scrubbing and Suction

Diamond Peel is a safe and effective method which takes out dirt and dead skin. It employs the use of special diamond-tipped hand piece which is run over by the dermatologist / esthetician over the surface of skin to vacuum away whiteheads, blackheads, dirt, and dead skin. Diamond Peel produces collagen, minimizes scars, removes blackheads, and improves skin conditions. It will also prevent skin from being oily, leaving it clear, smooth and young-looking. If you have low pain tolerance, it may hurt, but for most people it's tolerable. I would say I felt more pain during the pricking than this one.

Step Six: Mask (optional)

I got the Gold mask. The reason why they suggest you to have a mask is that its more easier for our skin to absorb the nutrients when our face is squeaky clean and our pores are open. They offer different masks like seaweeds, collagen, gold, oatmeal, cucumber, and so on.

Step Seven: Cold Hammer and Cream

In this last step, your esthetician will just use a cold hammer and massage it onto your face again to help close your pores. After that, she will put a Hydrocortisone cream to reduce some redness in the skin. And that's it! They will also give you a complimentary back massage to end the service.

Things To Avoid

Avoid being exposed to direct sunlight when you undergo diamond peel session. Your skin is very fresh which means it is sensitive to ultraviolet rays.
Avoid using extreme facial creams or astringent as they may sting.
Apply thin and hypo-allergenic makeup if necessary.

Is diamond peel available for men?

The treatment is available to everyone. The same procedure is done for both men and women.

Is it good for teenagers and kids?

This procedure may not be ideal for these age ranges. You should ask the dermatologist first if the procedure is fine with your children.

How Many Times Should I have In A Week or Month?

Based on my esthetician, for the initial treatment, it is recommended that you do it once in two weeks. When you have noticed the results to be improving, you may do it once a month.

How Much Is The Treatment Price?

Diamond peel price in the Philippines usually range from P1000 to P3000 or $25 per session, depending on the clinic where you want to get the treatment from. You can also find good discounts and promo vouchers (like Metrodeal) online as many skin clinics offer this with great prices.

Fairy Skin Derma Facial Set Review

Before we go to the product review, let me give you some background / history of my skin. I have sensitive skin and I was diagnosed with eczema last 2013 (though it is not contagious and I don't have it in my face) I needed to be more careful in putting creams, lotions, etc to my skin. I started having breakouts since last year due to stress and probably hormonal imbalance. I have used different soaps, cleansers, and toners to get rid of my pimples but none of them worked. I thought of treating my skin internally so I started taking Lactezin (anti-acne medicine). I also used Benzoyl Peroxide cream and I must say that those two products are effective; but as they say, patience is a virtue. It lessen my pimples and I didn't get flare ups that much. However, it leaves my skin with pimple marks. I used foundation and concealer every time I go out just to hide those discolorations.

Last August, I learned about Fairy Skin Derma Facial Set; it is making rounds on social media especially on Facebook and YouTube as one of the most promising facial set up to date. Fairy Skin Derma Facial Set is used for the treatment and prevention of severe cases of melasma, pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads by penetrating pores to reduce break outs, eliminate acne-causing bacteria, and remove dead skin cells. It whitens dark spots, blemishes, and other discoloration such as freckles, and age spots to achieve younger looking skin.

My schoolmate, Keizia Hernandez, is a city distributor of Fairy Skin so I asked her about the ingredients of the said product. The toner contains water, ethyl alcohol, alpha arbutin, vitamin C, and niacinamide. The cream contains sodium citrate, lactic acid, alpha arbutin, and niacinamide. She also said that both toner and cream contains rosehip oil, glycerine, retinol, and cetearil alcohol. Fortunately, these key ingredients are useful and so far the best and effective ingredients for my skin. Without any second thoughts, I bought one set and tried it out right away.

My personal suggested tips on how to use Fairy Skin Derma Facial Set: (Please keep in mind that what worked for me may not work for you and vice versa)

Wash your face with Fairy Skin Derma Soap (use in the morning and at night as your daily cleanser.) Do not leave the soap on your face for too long. I use it in less than 20 seconds. Be gentle and do not rub your face when washing.
Pat dry your face using a clean face towel or a paper towel. Again, do not rub your face, you just have to pat it dry.
Wet the small cotton ball with just 3-5 drops of Fairy Skin Derma Facial Toner. (I used 5 drops of toner on my first night and I saw a huge difference on my face after waking up. My cheeks were pinkish and my face has that beauty glow that you can easily tell. I felt a little sting after waking up but it was tolerable. My face also started the mild peeling. I just used 3 drops of toner on my 2nd night.) Use the toner twice daily for a month.
Apply the toner with one gentle upward motion, 'wag pabalik balik. You don't have to over do it. Do not rub your face with the toner.
After the toner, let it sit on your face and allow it to dry first.
Apply a pea-sized amount of Fairy Skin Brightening Cream on your whole face. Apply with an upward motion and apply it lightly. Use once a day preferably before bedtime for a month.
I use the Fairy Skin Sunblock Cream SPF45 every morning. Same direction, apply a pea-sized amount on your face and apply it lightly. Apply 30 minutes before sun exposure.

After four days of using Fairy Skin, my face cleared up and the bumps disappeared. By that time, I regained my self-confidence and decided to not put any foundation when going out. As of the writing, I only use Maybelline White Super Fresh Powder, lipstick or lip tint, curl my eyelashes and I'm good to go.

I must say that Brazilian sugaring is my favorite. The first time I tried it was about 2 years ago in Harbor Point Subic (2nd level) and it is worth the try.

What I love about Brazilian sugaring:

1. You'll be hairless for about 2 to 4 weeks (depending on your hair growth).

2. You'll feel much cleaner -- I recommend that you try Brazilian sugaring days before your monthly cycle.

3. You don't have to deal with razor cuts or burns.

4. It won't grow as thick as before.
5. It's affordable.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How long does it last before hair starts to grow?
In my case, it takes between 2 to 4 weeks to grow back but it grows back much softer and not as thick, it's different for everyone though so this can vary.

2. What exactly gets covered in a brazilian sugaring?
It involves taking the hair off the outside of your labia and the inside, as well as your butt. It's pretty difficult to shave the inside of your vagina, and it's almost impossible for you to shave your butt crack. Brazilian sugaring gets in more places than a razor can.

3. How long after shaving do I need to wait for Brazilian?
Wait until you can grip the hair with your fingers and pull. The appropriate length is at least a half an inch, otherwise the wax won't be able to grip the hair, and you have to go through painful plucking!

4. How to prevent ingrown hairs?
Begin exfoliating - gently - on a daily basis, but don't begin exfoliation until 24 hours have passed since you had it done. Try to not wear tight clothing for at least 24 hours after waxing. Tight clothing which rubs against your skin are almost certain to cause ingrowns and red bumps. Avoid this if you can.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is a brazilian sugaring?
I would say 7 or 8 but it really depends on the person.

6. Should I schedule a Brazilian 1 week after 1st day or last day of my period?
I recommend you do it before your period as it feels much cleaner.

7. How much time should I 'recover' from a Brazilian before having sex?
My waxer told me to wait 6 to 8 hours then it's a go. They also advised me to not wash within those hours, so you might as well just use paper towel after peeing.

1. Lacoste Touch of Pink

A fragrance for the dynamic woman. Perfect for the woman who is spontanuous and full of energy and life. A fresh, modern, zesty aroma, touch of pink is a fruitful blend of coriander leaves, blood orange, cardamom, jasmine, violet leaves, carrot seed, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. It's perfect for daily use or work. Beautiful and elegant. This scent signifies young & free, like you are ready to go enjoy your youth. Feminine touch with a hint of sporty.

2. CK Euphoria

Calvin Klein Euphoria perfume is a fun and enticing scent for women. The fragrance is luminous and luscious like fruit notes of which are captured in it. Euphoria is mysterious and appealing like dark exotic flowers. It invites you to enjoy in joys of life. The main notes are rose hip, Japanese apple, green leaves, Lotus, black orchid, red woods, black violet and amber. This is one of the most luxurious nighttime scent I've owned.

3. Clinique Happy

Clinique Happy is a fragrance of joy, the essence of a sunny, happy morning. Fresh apple, plums and bergamot mixed with the fresh-air accord as top notes proceed into the exotic floral heart composed of freesia, lily, rose and morning orchid. Musk and amber are in perfume’s base.

Happy lasts a whole day, at least 8 hours, on skin and fabric. It's subtle but you can smell it close to skin, non offensive, pleasant enough to wear to work in an office.

4. Vera Wang Princess

It celebrates youth and femininity in its top notes that bring the aquatic nuances with pure and sharp notes of water lily, apple, freshly-sweet mandarin and apricot. The heart is composed of exotic guava, Tiare flower, tuberose, with a touch of dark chocolate. The base brings powdery traces of vanilla, amber and wood. The bottle looks like a heart-shaped jewel, very fine and elegant, a symbol of magical charm and romantic in lilac tones.

It's not overly complex or particularly a statement perfume, but it's really comfortable, easy going, and divine in it's own way. Hands down, one of my everyday "on the go" favorites! This is simple, sweet, slightly powdery goodness. I think this would suit any weather or occasion, it's just so easy to wear for anybody of any age.

5. Alien Thierry Mugler

Alien is a magic elixir captured in a bottle in the shape of a strange object, reminiscent of a philosophers’ stone or some warlock object of a deep and mysterious purple color. Its woman has to be a bit of a witch.

The creators of Alien based the composition on three main lines: warm white amber in the base, woodsy notes in the heart, and sunny Indian jasmine in the top.

It's absolutely lovely and sensual. The notes are in such a harmony that it's difficult to differentiate one from the others. Every components are professionally well-blended.

6. Flora by Gucci

Flora by Gucci Eau de Parfum is characterized by fresh notes of agrums in the opening, combined with beautiful peony. A heart introduces balanced aromas of rose and osmanthus, while a base is created of patchouli and sandalwood. It's intense and seductive. The projection is good, not too invasive but noticeable. Bright, feminine and kind of mysterious.

7. Hypnose Senses Lancome

*This has become one of my most used perfumes in my collection. Lancome Hypnose Senses is a lovely sweet, rose dominated floral which is wearable all around the year. Some people compare it to Coco Mademoiselle, and I can see a small resemblance in the sweetness and patchouli. A sweeter more erotic one. Hypnose Senses is mature with a girlish charming; classy and feminine.

8. Victoria's Secret Bombshell

Fruity, aromatic and floral fragrance contains notes of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la peony and vanilla orchid. For true, always sexy "bombshells” – the women with an attitude that require attention. Bright, sensual and feminine.

9. Beautiful Estée Lauder

This is a romantic light bouquet of a thousand flowers, combined with fresh citrus notes in the top and warm woodsy notes in the base. The top notes include rose, mandarin, lily, tuberose and marigold. The intensive floral heart is sweet, consisting of orange flower, jasmine and ylang-ylang. The base notes are warm and elegant and include sandalwood and vetiver.

Beautiful only gets more beautiful the more one sprays and you don't have to wait for the dry-down; from the very first spray, with it's lusciously fruity- floral scent, I am captivated.

10. Envy Me by Gucci

This is a fragrance for the egocentric and bold young woman. The composition is fruity-floral with fresh and musky accords: spicy notes of litchi and pomegranate, the freshness of water jasmine, a harmony of sensual woods and musks. The top notes are pink peony and pink pepper, cassia, peach, mango; the heart brings litchi, pomegranate and pineapple; the base follows with sandalwood, white tea, Teakwood and white musk. Gucci Envy Me is one of those girl next door perfumes that's pretty, fun and flirty. This smells like heaven!
